More Pics of Elizabeth

We are having a blast! Here are a couple new pics of Elizabeth, Jen & Stephen. At first sight, we think she looks more like Stephen. Wonder if that will include dimples?

My Little Tar Heel

So here is Elizabeth Joy Bush, my little Tar Heel-born at University of North Carolina's Children's Hospital. She was born at 3am EST and came in at 7lbs. 15oz. and 20 1/2 in. Every finger and toe in place. They had an anxious moment when her shoulder couldn't make it through, but the doctors and nurses acted very quickly and EJ made it fine. Both She and Jennifer are doing fine. Of course, Jennifer is very tired and sore, but very joyful and happy.

As for Diane and me, we are already hooked. In fact, I'm toast. I've already asked Elizabeth what color of BMW she would like. No answer yet. Seriously, we're so thrilled and thankful to the Lord. He has been gracious to the Bushes and Machens.

Diane and I got word at 3:30pm CST yesterday that Jen was going into labor. Elizabeth ended up being 8 days early, but no problems and very healthy. Anyway, Diane and I had to hustle. We still had painters and sprinkler system guys working at our house. We had to wash clothes, change plane, hotel & car reservations. We weren't planning on going till late next week. We were blessed to be able to adjust our schedule and not be charged any more for tickets. Anyway, I could go on, but I'll shut down for now. I will say, there is nothing like holding your grand child. Everyone was right.

Keep checking back for more pics, if you can stand me being so obnoxious. I know, I know, I'm always obnoxious.

We love you all.

Surprise Blessings

Sunday was full of surprise blessings. We had an awesome day of worship at Prestonwood North. We'd done all of the songs before, but there was something different. Diane and I both agreed that it was an anointing from the Holy Spirit. We could all sense it, especially when we sang Mark Bovee's fantastic arrangement of the old Charles Gabriel hymn, I STAND AMAZED IN THE PRESENCE. What a great hymn text. Read it sometime.

We also had an interesting thing happen just as our campus pastor, Marc Rylander, began to preach. A lady fell out with an apparent heart attack. The quick end of the story is that she's fine. EMS came, we had 3 nurses right there to attend and a dentist...we apparently don't have any MDs in our congregation. It was distracting to the congregation. Again, Diane and I talked about it and agreed that there was spiritual warfare going on. And it might have been because our sub guitar player that day, who is a self described agnostic, was sitting there during the preaching of the gospel. The enemy will do anything to veil the message of Jesus. Pray for him. His name is Justin.

The last surprise of the day was getting to go to Gateway Church in Southlake, TX where we enjoyed a worship/concert called The Habitation service. It was lead by Christian music legend, Tim Shepperd. He's been a hero of ours since college. He's actually our age. YOUNG! Anyway, he and his wife, Kelly and their daughter, Jessica, had us over to their beautiful home after the service and we enjoyed some wonderful food and great fellowship. We've known them casually for years, but this was the first time to spend quality time with them. What gracious, humble and joyous servants of the Lord! We were and are really blessed...and suprised.

11 days till, EJB!!!!!

Love you all.

iPhones & Long Lines

I went to the Apple Store yesterday to pick something up. When I got there, the line out the door of people waiting for the new 3G iPhone was at least 50 feet long. I have no idea how long the wait was, but I was guessing it was at least an hour.

First, I thought, did these people take a sick day to stand in line? Was the phone that cool? Were they in that big of a need to be the "first kid on the block" to own one?

Then as I walked in to the store past the long line for my non-iPhone purchase, I thought, there is a correlation with prayer and our relationship to our Father in Heaven. We don't have to wait for Him. He's always available, right now, wherever we are. Just walk right up and talk to the Lord...without the need for an iPhone.

If anyone's reading this...have a great day. I'm working on new songs today. The best thing I get to do...besides hang out with my foxy wife...Diane.

Peace out!

Hey everyone! Last night was fun. we've set up video conferencing with Jen and Stephen. That means we can see Miss Elizabeth Joy when she gets here. Whoo-Hoo!!! Diane and I are really ready for a vacation break. Looks like North Carolina will be our future vacation spot.

Thought for the day: When you get where you're going...there you are!

Welcome to my world

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd share some thoughts today. Diane and I are about 3 weeks away from being grandparents. We are so excited except that Stephen and Jen now reside in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Stephen's pursuing his PhD in Bio Informatics. No, I can't explain that! Just know how proud we are of him. Jen's going to be an awesome mom. Their apt is just about set up an is really nice. It will be Elizabeth Joy's first home. We're going over in August at the birth. I'm putty already.

Ryan's in Waco this summer and working at Jamba Juice. I'm so proud of him. He's doing a great job. In fact, they've promoted him to an assistant manager position. He's hoping he can continue to work there next year during school. He's going to be senior at Baylor (Sic 'em Bears!). Hard to believe.

Diane and I are doing well. She's had some back problems so we'd appreciate any and all prayers. I'm still leading worship at Prestonwood Baptist Church's North Campus in Prosper, Texas which is in the far north Dallas area. You can see in the picture our new choir and praise team and the band which we call the Northern Light Worship Band. They are amazing.

Well, that's all for now. Let me hear from you. Oh, we'll be posting lots of baby pictures here. I'm already obnoxious.

God Bless,
Chris
